Transition to the Modern Age
Unlocking Electricity
Electricity will be critical for the modern era, and we need to unlock it now to advance further.
Modern Age!
To begin, research the Modern Age, which takes 1 hour and has a specific cost. While you wait, let’s prepare for the arrival of the new era!
Objective: Build a Research Laboratory.
Coal Mining and Power Generation
Mining coal is currently very inefficient with our existing mines, so you’ll need to build multiple mines.
- Coal Gain: +0.5 coal/second per upgrade.
Our current knowledge allows for minimal energy gain from coal combustion, but it’s a necessary step.
Next, construct a Coal Generator.
- Electricity Production: +2 electricity/second at the cost of 2 coal/second per upgrade.
You’ll need several coal mines and fully upgraded generators to meet future demands.
Keep in mind, this process pollutes your planet’s atmosphere and can contribute to long-term climate change. Always ensure you’re producing enough resources to maintain both your mines and generators, and have enough citizens for all jobs by adding more houses. Keep an eye on water and food supplies.
For this stage, it’s advisable to initiate multiple researches into Resource Production Bonuses and maintain citizen morale at 100 for the +10% production bonus.
Unlocking the Research Laboratory
The Modern Age should now be unlocked. Start researching the Research Laboratory, which takes 10 minutes. In the meantime, monitor the needs of your city.
Once researched, build the laboratory. This building consumes 5 electricity per level, and your goal will be to upgrade it to level 10, meaning you’ll need at least 50 electricity per second.
At level 1, the Research Laboratory produces 0.01 research points/second. Science takes time, but once fully upgraded, it will produce 0.1 research points/second, which is a decent boost.
Building the Weather Center
Next, construct the Weather Center, which also generates 0.01 research points/second but cannot be upgraded. The Weather Center is vital as it allows you to preview the state of your planet, including the pollution index and whether any particular environmental effect is active.
Advancing Through Research
With these new technologies, your future research will no longer consume regular resources, but instead will use research points. You can still boost research with the old Resource Bonus research, which consumes traditional resources.
Embracing the Modern Age
Now that you’re fully in the modern age, unlock new technologies and modern buildings. Research the Stargate Technology to prepare for more efficient energy sources. Begin building a ground, vehicular, or aerial army to defend against intruders who may pass through the stargate. Protect your stargate, explore other planets, and build new cities across the universe. Keep advancing until you reach the Space Age.
Notes on City Planning
- Skyscrapers: These buildings provide a lot of space but are less favored by citizens, slightly reducing morale. Remember to keep some regular houses to balance this effect.
- Research and Weather Buildings: You can only place one Weather Center and one Research Laboratory per planet, so colonizing new planets is an excellent strategy to increase your research points!
